Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services Selects Cúram Software (CANADA) As New Child Welfare Solution For Children's Aid Societies Across the Province

Enterprise Solution Will Enable Holistic Service Delivery and Organizational Efficiency

Herndon, Va., January 24, 2011 - Cúram Software, the leading provider of Social Enterprise Management (SEM) software solutions, today announced that the Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services (MCYS) selected the Cúram Business Application Suite™ to establish one common system for managing case and financial information for child protection services across the province. As a critical component of the Child Protection Information Network (CPIN), the Cúram solution will greatly enhance services to children and families as well as provide data in a timely, accurate manner for the government.

Ontario’s child welfare system relies on 53 Children’s Aid Societies (CASs) that are designated to deliver services to children and families. Children’s Aid Societies use multiple information systems across the province. This hinders collaboration among the CASs, making it difficult for caseworkers across all jurisdictions to share critical information in real time. In addition, the government requires better access to accurate, comparable data on expenditures and client and services volumes. In order to embrace an outcomes-focused approach to child welfare, MCYS required timely access to integrated information.

MCYS initiated the Child Protection Information Network Project to replace their existing legacy systems with one solution to manage information for child protection services across the province. CPIN will support child welfare workers and Ministry staff who deliver services to over 300,000 children and 109,000 families. After a thorough selection process, the Cúram solution was chosen to facilitate CPIN as a child and family-centered, outcomes-focused business application that includes best practices. As a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solution designed for child welfare agencies, it provides flexibility to meet evolving needs without extensive customization. The Cúram solution enables the aggregation and analysis of information to uncover trends that drive effectiveness. Most importantly, it enables holistic service delivery through consistency, accuracy and collaboration.

"By replacing CAS and Ministry legacy systems with one integrated child welfare solution, MCYS is taking a critical step towards delivering more effective services for children and families across Ontario," said Ernie Connon, president, Cúram Software. "The Cúram for Child Welfare solution will allow the Ministry to remove barriers in order to increase collaboration and family-centric service planning, modernizing their child welfare system and improving family and agency outcomes."
