Getting Cúram Certified

Why become Cúram Certified?

By achieving a Cúram Certification, you can validate your knowledge of the Cúram solution, demonstrating that you have the skills and expertise required to work as a Cúram Business Analyst or Cúram Developer. In addition, Cúram Certification offers the following benefits:

  • Increase your competence and professional credibility, leading to greater job satisfaction, job security, and earning potential
  • Increase your access to top companies and projects by meeting the criteria for Cúram projects
  • Deepen your understanding of the product following formal training

My employer does not require me to become certified. Are there any reasons why I should take the certification exam?

Yes, achieving Cúram Certification enables you to deepen your understanding of the product and increase your confidence in using Cúram.

How much does the exam cost?

Candidates who attend a classroom training course, or receive a training waiver can use the provided voucher number for one free attempt at the corresponding certification exam. Note that this attempt must be made within 90 days of attending the course or receiving the waiver.

For subsequent attempts, or if the first attempt is made outside the 90-day period, the cost of the exam is USD$150.

Do I have to attend a training course before attempting Cúram Certification?

Cúram certification exams are based on specific classroom training courses. These courses cover the range of skills needed to pass the exam. The cost of the course includes one free attempt at the corresponding certification exam.

You may request a training waiver if you have one or more years of Cúram project experience. This waiver enables you to attempt the certification exam without attending a classroom training course. It also includes a free attempt at the exam.

Can I get a waiver based on my experience?

Yes. To be eligible for a waiver, you must have one or more years of Cúram project experience. This must be verified by a Cúram Software employee. The Training Waiver page contains more information about the experience required to apply for a waiver, the application process, and the region-specific fees.

How do I apply for a waiver?

To apply for a training waiver, please contact GLS. The Training Waiver page describes the information you will need to provide when applying for a waiver and how soon you can expect a response.

How much does the waiver cost and what do I get for it?

The fee for a training waiver is region-specific, and is available on the Training Waiver page. This information is updated on the first working day of each month to reflect currency fluctuations.

I attended a classroom training course in the past but have not attempted the certification exam. What can I do to get certified?

To become certified, you have to pass the certification exam. The procedure for attempting the exam depends on when you attended the classroom training course:

  • Less than 90 days ago – You have one free attempt at the exam using the provided voucher number.
  • Greater than 90 days, but less than one year ago – You can attempt the exam but must pay the exam fee (US$150).
  • Greater than one year ago – You must retake the classroom training course, or apply for a training waiver. You may then attempt the certification exam.

I have attended a classroom training course for Cúram V5.2. Can I take the certification exam for Cúram V6?

No, you must take the version of the exam that corresponds to the version of the classroom training course that you attended. However, a certification for a previous version of Cúram may be upgraded to the most recent version by completing a web-based upgrade course.

  • Obtain your voucher number
  • Complete the exam prep recommended by GLS
  • Schedule the exam for the location, time, and date on the Prometric Site

How quickly should I schedule my exam after completing the classroom training course?

GLS strongly recommends that you schedule your exam as quickly as possible after attending the classroom training course .This will enable you to arrange the most desirable date, time, and location for your exam. In addition, you can also plan your preparation more effectively by setting a target date.

The amount of preparation time required will differ for each candidate, as it depends on a range of personal factors, including experience, study techniques, and work commitments. For the Developers exam, GLS recommends that candidates spend approximately 8 hours a week preparing for the certification exam over a period of 6-8 weeks. For the Business Analysts exam, GLS recommends that candidates spend approximately 6 hours a week preparing for the exam over a period of 4-8 weeks.

How do I pay for the exam?

If you attempt the exam for the first time within 90 days of attending a classroom training course, payment is not required. The exam fee is included in the training price.

For subsequent exam attempts, or if you attempt the exam more than 90 days after attending a classroom training course, a fee is required. This fee is paid directly to the testing provider (Prometric). If a training waiver has been granted, payment is made to Cúram Software.

How do I receive my voucher number?

The voucher number will be mailed to you by Cúram after you have attended a classroom training course or received a training waiver. If you have to pay for the exam, the voucher number is sent to you by the testing provider (Prometric) on receipt of payment.

Where can I take the exam?

You can take the certification exam at any Authorized Prometric Testing Center (APTC). Prometric have a test center locator button on their website. If I purchase a voucher and do not take the exam, can I apply for a credit?

Credits cannot be given for previously purchased voucher numbers.

For how long is a voucher number valid?

Voucher numbers are valid for 90 days from the date of issue. Candidates are responsible for knowing when their voucher numbers expire. This information can be found in the details accompanying the voucher number.

Exams must be scheduled at least 24 hours before your voucher expires.

What is the exam eligibility period and is this different than the 90-day window?

Yes, this is different. Your exam eligibility covers your access to an exam. Cúram Software provides access to an exam for one year. This is to ensure you are qualifying on the most recent version of the Cúram Business Application Suite (CBAS). It also ensures that you are tested on the same Cúram version as your training.

Do I have to take the exam in the country where I took the training, or where I currently reside?

No. The exam can be taken in any Authorized Prometric Testing Center.

I have missed the 90-day window due to work or personal issues. How can I take the exam?

After a voucher expires, the voucher number is void and cannot be reactivated. Therefore, candidates who fail to schedule and complete the certification exam during the 90-day window are required to pay a fee.

How much time should I spend preparing for the exam?

The amount of preparation time required will differ for each candidate, as it depends on a range of personal factors, including experience, study techniques, and work commitments. For the Developers exam, GLS recommends that candidates spend approximately 8 hours a week preparing for the certification exam over a period of 6-8 weeks. For the Business Analysts exam, GLS recommends that candidates spend approximately 6 hours a week preparing for the exam over a period of 4-8 weeks.

How soon after taking the training should I take the exam?

GLS recommends that candidates take the certification exam within 6-8 weeks of completing the corresponding classroom training course.

Are sample exams or sample questions available?

Taking an Exam

What is the format of each certification exam?

All Cúram certification exams have the same format, that is, a closed-book, computer-based test consisting of 40 multiple-choice questions covering key concepts. Candidates have one hour to complete each Cúram certification exam. Multiple-choice questions may have one correct answer (multiple-choice, single answer) or more than one correct answer (multiple-choice, multiple answer). The exam itself is taken in a Prometric testing center to ensure that candidates are evaluated in an industry-standard testing environment.

What are the pass marks?

Two certifications are currently offered by Cúram, namely, Cúram Certified Developer (CCD) and Cúram Certified Professional (CCP). The pass marks for the corresponding certification exams depend on the certification itself (CCD or CCP) and the Cúram version associated with it.

The pass mark for both the CCD V6 and CCP V6 certification exams is 70% (28 or more questions correct). The pass mark for the CCP V5.2 is also 70% (28 or more questions correct). However, the pass mark for the CCD V5.2 exam is 65% (26 or more questions correct).

What identification should I bring to the testing center to be allowed to take the exam?

On arriving at the test center, you will be required to present two valid forms of ID, one of which must be a valid photo ID, such as passport or government-sponsored ID card.

Do I need to bring any materials with me when I take the exam?

No. It is not permitted to use any product information, such as course manuals, or documents and artifacts from the Cúram Documentation Center during the exam. Candidates are provided with an erasable note board and marker for notes and calculations.

What if I arrive late for the exam?

If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, you will not be allowed to sit the exam.

If a question in the certification exam has more than one correct answer, will I be told how many answers are correct?

For all Cúram V5.0 exams, you are prompted to select one correct answer in a single-answer, multiple-choice question, for example "Choose one option." For multiple-answer, multiple-choice questions, you are prompted to look for a specific number of correct answers, for example, "Choose 3 options." This applies to both the V5.2 CCD and CCP exams.

For a Cúram V5.2 exam, you are prompted to select one correct answer in a single-answer, multiple-choice question, for example "Choose 1 option." For multiple-answer, multiple-choice questions, you are prompted to look for a specific number of correct answers, for example, "Choose 3 options." This applies to both the V5.2 CCD and CCP exams.

The V6 CCD and CCP differ in the way they use question prompts. Single-answer, multiple-choice questions in both the V6 CCD and CCP exams use the same prompt, that is, "Choose 1 answer/option." However, the prompts provided for multiple-answer, multiple-choice questions differ between the CCD and CCP exams. In the V6 CCD exam, the prompt for each multiple-answer, multiple-choice question specifies the number of correct answers that the candidate should seek, for example, "Select 2 answers." In the V6 CCP exam, the prompt for each multiple-answer, multiple-choice question does not specify the number of correct answers that the candidate should seek, for example, "Select more than one answer."

How are questions marked? Is there negative marking? Will I get credit for responses that are partially correct?

All Cúram certification exams consist of 40 multiple-choice questions. Each correctly answered question contributes 2.5% to the total score. There is no negative marking. No deductions are made from the total score for incorrect answers. If a question has more than one correct answer, all the correct answers must be selected for the question to be marked correct.

When do I get my exam results?

You will be given your score and an analysis of your performance in each of the Cúram knowledge categories as soon as you complete the exam. The testing center will also provide you with a printed version of this information.

Can I see what questions I answered incorrectly?

No. At the end of the exam, you will be told how many questions from each section you answered correctly. You will not be shown the specific questions that you answered incorrectly.

Retaking the Exam

I've failed an exam, how soon can I retake it?

The period of time allowed between successive attempts of the certification exam depends on how many attempts have been made to date.

  • If this is your third attempt, you must wait at least 20 business days from the date of the previous attempt before retaking the exam
  • If this is your fourth attempt, you must get written permission from Cúram Software (learning@curamsoftware.com) before retaking the exam

In this context, please note the following rules:

If you need to attempt an exam for a fourth time, you must obtain written permission from Cúram Software (learning@curamsoftware.com). If an exam is taken for a fourth time and passed without written permission, the exam will not be validated. Exam retakes require payment of the full exam fee and are not discounted.

Do I have to pay for any retakes I sit?

Yes. Exam retakes require payment of the full exam fee (USD$150) and are not discounted.

How do I pay for a retake?

If new exams or upgrades courses are not taken as stipulated by GLS, your certification will be suspended for (6) six months. Candidates have six (6) months to recertify their Cúram certification. If a candidate does not recertify within the six-month suspension period, the relevant Fundamentals classroom training course must be retaken, as well as the corresponding certification exam.

When exactly is the certification date? Is it the date when I took the exam, the date when the certification is issued, or another date?

Information and Pricing

How can I decide which Cúram classroom training course is the best match for my individual requirements and job role?

The course outlines defined for every Cúram classroom training course will help you to determine which course or courses meet your training requirements. Please contact GLS at learning@curamsoftware.com if you require further information about specific courses; customized training; training delivery; or the Learning Solutions Consultancy service, which can identify your training needs and recommend suitable training.

I notice that prerequisites are defined in the course outlines for all Cúram classroom training courses. How important are these prerequisites?

The prerequisites defined by Cúram GLS for all classroom training courses are essential. Unless attendees can meet these prerequisites, they will not achieve the desired learning outcomes. What are the minimum and maximum class sizes for Cúram classroom training courses?

The maximum and minimum class sizes for a Cúram classroom training course depend on the course itself. These maximum and minimum sizes are specified with the current price for each course. Regional pricing information for all classroom training courses can be accessed here

Can Cúram classroom training courses be customized to meet specific project needs?

Yes. GLS can provide customized classroom training courses based on the needs of a specific project or audience type. If a customized course is required, please contact us at learning@curamsoftware.com.

What is included in a customized Cúram classroom training course?

The exact details of a customized course depend on the specific project it is designed for and the degree to which it differs from our standard offerings. However, customized courses do comply with the same rigorous standards applied to all other Cúram classroom training courses. These standards are as follows:

  • A commitment to focus on your business needs and learning objectives
  • A flexible range of options for the course content, agenda, and delivery
  • A guarantee to provide the Cúram Software expertise required to prepare and deliver the course
  • A commitment to develop and deliver any training materials to the highest possible standards
